About Our Office About the Dentist
A calm child-friendly environment is provided by the aquatic décor. Our modern state of the art office is designed like a submarine with interesting portholes through which children can look and see both aquariums with live fish and other aquatic scenes. TV monitors at each treatment chair allow children to view movies while they are being treated. Alternatively, they can entertain themselves with games, toys and video games which are found everywhere! Our game room is filled with numerous toys, puzzles, and books for children of all ages, as well as numerous video games. Movies are also displayed on monitors in the reception room for added entertainment. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to participate in the care of their children by coming into the treatment areas. Dr. Kochman is always available to discuss any question parents may have about particular issues or dental treatments. Our office participates with Excellus Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Metropolitan Life, and Healthplex Child Health Plus insurances. Dr. Kochman is a board certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry with many years of experience in all aspects of pediatric dentistry, as well as in the care of patients with special needs. A Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is a pediatric dentist who has voluntarily been examined by a board of five peers elected by the membership of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists. Upon successful completion of these rigorous voluntary tests, the pediatric dentist is awarded the title of Diplomate. Dr. Kochman is a clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester New York. Dr. Kochman is a reviewer for articles submitted for publication at both the Pediatric Dentistry Journal, as well as at the Contemporary Pediatrics Journal. Dr. Kochman
is pleased to offer the modern Kodak Digital Radiography system which
provides reduced x-ray exposures for our patients, reduced waiting times,
and environmentally friendly non-chemical processing of x-rays. 2008 Give Kids A Smiles
Dr. Kochman volunteered with several other local dentists in the 2008 Give Kids A Smile campaign, doing dental health screenings for children who did not have regular access to dental care. Complimentary dental cleanings were done by dental hygiene students and the volunteer dentists evaluated the dental needs of the children. Where necessary, appropriate referrals were made for complimentary follow up care. This year’s campaign was a great success.
Chocoholics Take Note … Just in time for the holidays
We are well aware that over indulging in chocolate can contribute to weight gain, lower bone density, a rise in serum triglycerides, migraine headaches, and esophageal reflux. However, chocolate may also improve vascular health, blood pressure, cognitive health, blood flow, and skin health. Great news! Recent studies now indicate that cavity producing bacteria and plaque may be reduced by having children use a cocoa bean mouth rinse. (Sorry guys….its not commercially available yet!)
